The make-up industry has always existed in one form or the other through the pages of history. Through the annals of history, famous female characters like Cleopatra, Queen Elizabeth and others have used make-up made from mixtures of various vegetable and animal extracts to accentuate their facial features.
Today, the make-up and cosmetic industry is a fast-growing industry everywhere in the world. In India, the potential for this industry is tremendous as Indian women are only just opening up to the use of various cosmetic products. The make-up industry in this country is still, therefore at a budding stage. Overseas however, there is a great demand for new-age permanent makeup products as well as for healthier alternatives to cosmetic products with potent chemical components like mineral makeup and organic make-up.
In Western countries, because of the immense competition in the field, make-up companies often offer free makeup beauty tips or show consumers how to apply makeup to best accentuate their features. There are many other modern marketing gimmicks like these which make-up companies employ to get their customers’ attention. For instance some modern make-up companies provide freebies like a lip pencil may come with a free pencil sharpener etc. While all the free items are appreciated, customers must try to select cosmetics more on the basis of their skin type, tone and coloring to create the best effects with make-up.
The first thing to remember while applying makeup is to start off by cleaning your face. Do not apply make-up on an oily face as it will spoil the look. Any genuine make-up specialist will tell you that to achieve the right look, make-up alone is not sufficient. You should maintain good skin and this can be achieved by proper and regular cleansing, moisturizing and toning. In order to avoid irritating your skin or developing a rash, it is best that you seek the help of a dermatologist before embarking on a ritual of cleansing-moisturizing and toning. Use products that you will not develop an allergy to and if possible use genuine organic or all-natural cosmetic products.
Although this would not come into the purview of makeup tips, you should also get regular facials. These do not have to involve some elaborate treatment at a professional skin clinic. You can also give yourself a basic facial at home as often as twice a week. To do this, begin by using a mild cleansing lotion. Follow this up with a gentle exfoliating massage and finally rub on a soothing facial mask – choose one that suits your skin type – and leave it on for about twenty minutes or so and then wash it off.
One important make-up application tip is in reference to using eye makeup. When you use any kind of make-up around your eyes, be very careful to clean it off before sleeping as neglecting to do this can lead to eye infections. Also, be very particular about restricting the use of eye make-up applicators. Do not share your mascara or eye-liner brush with others.
