You may not allow your children to wear makeup but that’s not the same for all parents. World over, forget cosmetics children are even getting plastic surgery or corrective cosmetic surgeries done even before they graduate. Would you say this is a good example or trend to set?
If you look at the west, more and more young people before even the age of 20 are going in for cosmetic surgery. Parents are paying for it and children are looking at celebrities or succumbing to peer pressure. It is not much a debate for children but for parents.
Cosmetic Surgery today can be performed on an infant as young as ten weeks old but the case here is different. The surgery is not to make the baby attractive but to remedy natural deformities. In cases necessary it is understood. But if a teenage wants to deal with peer pressure by getting plastic surgery done, it is time the parents spoke to the child. A parent should enforce that getting plastic surgery will only chance the physical appearance and not erase the mental block, most of the times it is a psychological block in the child’s mind.
Getting plastic surgery has its pros and cons. Yes it can improve your physical appearance and yes it can boost your self esteem but there are also side effects. Not everyone that gets cosmetic surgery done is satisfied with the results. If you don’t find the results good in one surgery, many go for multiple surgeries. If your child happens to be 16 or 17 and wants to get surgery done, try to understand the reasons motivating the child. A lot of cosmetologists themselves deny doing surgeries for young clients just based on the risks involved and that it is always better to wait as your child has not matured completely physically.
As a parent, if you are convinced yourself that your child needs corrective cosmetic surgery make sure you consult the best in the field.
